Education/Experience: - Incumbent must have a High School Diploma.
- Two (2) years CSU payroll or Higher Education payroll experience.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position. - Knowledge of general office methods, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of, or the ability to acquire quickly, policies, procedures, programs, guidelines, applicable state and federal laws, educational codes, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Ability to properly document formatting in order to independently prepare correspondence and communications.
- Demonstrated competence to perform arithmetic computations, such as converting percentages to fractions rapidly and accurately.
- Must be detail oriented and have strong organizational skills.
- Ability to accurately maintain files and records and knowledge of office methods, procedures, and practices.
- Ability to quickly learn the Uniform State Payroll Procedures Manual, Personnel Information Management System Manual, and other information found in state and university administrative manuals and guidelines.
- Ability to quickly learn the Executive Orders published by the Chancellor's Office, applicable state and federal laws, education codes and collective bargaining agreements.
- Demonstrated skill in the review of detailed numerical records or transactions to identify, trace and correct processing errors.
- Ability to demonstrate an awareness and appreciation of the cultural diversity of the University community, and establish and maintain positive working relationships within and outside of the work group.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a work team and ability to learn quickly and work under immediate supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and apply frequently changing payroll rules and regulations.
- Ability to handle confidential documents and maintain confidentiality with discretion.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Must have excellent customer service orientation, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to a wide variety of people in a positive, courteous and non-judgmental manner.
- Ability to understand, review and compare tables, reports, and data queries.

Preferred Qualifications: - Four-year college degree in, Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting or related field.
- Three to four (3-4) years CSU payroll or Higher Education payroll experience.
- Two years of PIMS (Personnel/Payroll Information Management System) PeopleSoft Time & Labor and Absence Management experience is highly desired.
