This position is responsible for providing quality instruction to students enrolled in the Spanish/English Medical Interpreter Course (Quick Careers). The purpose of the instruction is to equip students with the necessary occupation-specific and employability skills for success in the workplace. This position is also responsible for maintaining required documents: class rosters, course syllabus, Student Membership Verification (SMV) forms, Classroom Sign in/out logs, student grade book, student progress notes, etc. Additionally, all adjuncts are required to complete Con Ed Moodle training in order to: build and/or maintain a Moodle site for hybrid or online courses and to access the Instructor Resource Site.
Education Required:
1.Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and/or Associate's Degree in Interpreter Training from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution. 2.Bi-lingual in Spanish and English 3.Education in medical terminology
Education Preferred:
1.Master's Degree in Spanish from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution and/or post associate degree education as an interpreter.
Experience Required:
1.Three years of experience serving as a Spanish-English interpreter in a medical facility. 2.Post-secondary teaching experience and/or industry training experience.
Experience Preferred:
1.Greater than three years of experience serving as a Spanish-English interpreter in a medical facility. 2.Teaching experience at a community college 3.Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes 4.Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
