Oursubspecialty ophthalmologists have completed a minimum of one year offellowship training after residency and are board eligible or board certifiedby the American Board of Ophthalmology. Vanderbilt Eye Institute'saward-winning research staff collaborates with our doctors as well as otherVanderbilt departments to pursue discoveries that enhance the vision ofpatients everywhere. Shift Hours: Days Your Role: Provides veterinary technical services to promoteand maintain health of research animals with minimal guidance. Ensurescompliance with existing regulations. Provides training to personnel. Assistswith performance of anesthesia and injections in USDA species, after receivingappropriate training. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES: COMMUNICATION(INTERMEDIATE): Clearly, effectivelyand respectfully communicates to employees or customers. CUSTOMER SERVICE(ADVANCED): A continuing focus onthe needs and requirements of customers, anticipating their needs, remainingsensitive to customers while performing services for them, responsive tocustomer needs. SPECIMEN COLLECTION(ADVANCED): Ability to collect allsample types and prepare specimen for downstream diagnostic testing. RESTRAINT HANDLING(ADVANCED): Demonstrates knowledgeof proper technique for handling and restraining animals from multiple species. LABORATORY ANIMALDISEASES (INTERMEDIATE): Knowledge of and experience with laboratory animal diseases,outbreaks, methods of spread, and methods of limiting disease. VETERINARY KNOWLEDGE(INTERMEDIATE): Demonstrates knowledgeof veterinary medicine includingthe care across species, calculation of medical doses and administration,recognizing clinical and behavioral signs for healthy, ill or injured animals,etc. ANIMAL CARE KNOWLEDGE(INTERMEDIATE): Knowledgeable on theneeds, treatment, and husbandry for different animal species.
