Commensurate with experience. Position Summary: The Senior Budget Analyst is responsible for preparing, monitoring and analyzing Divisional budgets throughout the Office of the President. Oversight of the departmental budgets includes ensuring transparency and driving a consistent reporting structure to support UCOP's strategic objectives. The Senior Budget Analyst works with Divisional and departmental staff across the organization to support the development and management of budgets and financial reporting, in addition to creating forecasts and developing resource management tools. Job Close Date: Duties Duty 1: Applies professional finance and budgetary concepts to provide analytical support for budget preparation and monitoring, working with department staff to analyze current data, develop and review reports and create meaningful forecasts. Assists the Budget and Finance staff in implementing tools for scenario planning and forecasting to support management in making financial trade-offs and adjustments throughout the year. Reviews detailed funding for UCOP budgets, gathering data and preparing analysis for Budget and Finance Leadership. Completes reconciliations of budget and financial data to ensure accuracy of reported information. Prepares analysis for budget process and procedural changes, updating and creating documentation as needed. Function:Analysis and Analytical Skills Percent: 65 Duty 2: Acts as a resource for staff within UCOP departments around budgeting, systems data and reporting, generating reports and analysis as needed, including budget, general ledger and payroll reports. Function:Team Resource and Report Generation Percent: 15 Duty 3: Prepares analysis for budget process and procedural changes, updating and creating documentation as needed. Participates in the evaluation and development budget and financial systems and reporting enhancement projects, generating, modifying and conceiving of new financial or budget reports. Assists the Director and Executive Director on key projects and ongoing process improvements within Budget and Finance. Function:Data Gathering and Analysis Preparation Percent: 20 Job Requirements Bachelors degree in finance or accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 5 or more years of progressive financial experience. Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple time-sensitive and detail oriented tasks simultaneously and with a strong results/goal orientation. Ability to research, analyze and interpret budget and financial data, participating with others across organizational lines in synthesizing data to be used in formulating recommendations. Requires knowledge of financial policies, practices and systems, budgeting and reporting techniques; and accounting. Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and demonstrated experience in a customer service environment. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Must have experience with financial systems and Excel. Required Familiarity with UC budget and accounting practices and/or fund based accounting in other non-profit setting strongly preferred.
