Location: Hyde Park Campus Job Description: Unit-specific Responsibilities 1) Staff Scientist will develop and implement programs to promote agent-based modeling and predictive analytics and contribute to the scientific direction of the center. 3) They will work closely with Dr. Jessica Ridgway in Clinical Informatics and receive support from senior scientists at Argonne National Laboratory. 4) Serve as a resource for assessing data and developing computational models. 5) Facilitate and promote a research project by providing scientific or intellectual information. 6) Develop dry lab protocols and training on new techniques. Manage, analyze and make recommendations on complex data sets for research. 7) Create first drafts for scientific writing and publications, including protocols and grants. 8) Train and mentor laboratory personnel. 9) Perform other related work as needed. 10) Focus on analysis of network data and network modeling, predictive analytics, machine learning and agent-based modeling. 11) Collaborates with other researchers within and outside the CCHE as appropriate. 12) Develops and maintains collaborative research projects with academic and community based organizations. 13) Provides expertise on epidemiologic and statistical methods; contributes critical methodological evaluation of proposed research design and suggests design improvements. 14) Participates in the preparation and writing of grant applications and reports, and co-authors/authors scientific research manuscripts. 15) Supervises and mentors junior statisticians/data analysts, programmers, data managers and other research staff. 16) Presents work at scientific meetings, and provides peer review of grant applications and scientific manuscripts. Preferred Qualifications Education 1) Doctoral degree (PhD) in a related field
