The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the national not-for-profit association established in 1863 that represents nearly 94,000 veterinarians working in private and corporate practice, government, industry, academia and uniformed services, is seeking an Accounts Receivable Supervisor to join our Finance and Business Services team located at our Headquarters office in Schaumburg, Illinois – a northwest suburb of Chicago. Under the general direction of the Assistant Director, the Accounts Receivable Supervisor is responsible for supervising the daily operations of AVMA’s accounts receivable (AR) functions that include generating invoices; processing payments received for invoiced/non-invoiced items; collecting past due invoices; recordkeeping; and analyzing and reconciling AR accounts by creating and maintaining reports/ledgers. This position is also responsible for maintaining the AVMA Political Action Committee (PAC) account activity and payments; managing AVMA’s state sales tax filings and requirements; along with collaborating with AVMA employees and outside vendors to ensure Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance for all AR processes at the AVMA.

A bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minimum of 3-5 years of AR and/or general ledger experience, including supervisory experience, is required. Association experience is preferred. Excellent customer service, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact with all levels of employees, volunteer leadership and AVMA members are essential. We require working knowledge of accounting practice and principles with a focus on AR; accounting software, such as Great Plaines; and PC programs (e.g., Microsoft Office). Knowledge or experience with PCI compliance and/or PAC processes is a plus. A qualified candidate must be highly organized with excellent attention to detail; possess time managements skills; and is able to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities. The flexibility to work outside of normal business hours and travel on behalf of the AVMA, as needed, is required. Less than 5% travel. Deadline to apply is 10/19/2019.
