Major, Lindsey & Africa (MLA) has been exclusively retained to conduct a confidential search for an Assistant General Counsel – Labor & Employment (Counsel) to be located at the Company’s corporate headquarters in the Southeast. Our client is an equal opportunity employer. Overview: Reporting to the General Counsel, the Assistant General Counsel – Labor & Employment will provide advice and counsel to internal clients on employee rights and responsibilities regarding discipline, discharge, leave (e.g., ADA, FMLA and PTO), workers compensation and regulatory compliance (e.g., E-Verify). The Counsel may also be asked to support the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements, resolve administrative charges of discrimination and retaliation (e.g., Title VII, ADEA, and ADA), respond to federal and state wage and hour investigations, and assist with the development of employment policies and procedures. The Counsel’s direct reports will include the Counsel – Labor & Employment and a Senior Paralegal. S/he will be accountable for setting the Enterprise risk mitigation strategy with respect to all aspects of domestic labor and employment laws with the support of expert outside counsel, as appropriate. Company: A high-growth company operating in the construction space. Compensation: Competitive salary and benefit package. Experience: 8+ years of labor and employment practice (in-house or as outside counsel). Experience in the construction industry is preferred. Proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
