Sentara Healthcare is currently recruiting for an experienced Corporate Director of Security POSITION SUMMARY:
The Corporate Director of Security is the leader of the system-wide protective services function for Sentara Healthcare. This position works collaboratively across Sentara Healthcare to create a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, staff and physicians accessing organizational services. Facilities within the scope of responsibility may include a variety of healthcare settings such as hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, administrative and medical office buildings, call centers and other types of facilities. Primary responsibilities include the development and integration of system wide healthcare security services strategies, staffing, technology, and ensuring the consistent implementation and performance of the frontline security team across all Sentara Healthcare locations.
Principal accountabilities of the Director will be to serve as a single-source security subject matter expert for the system. This individual provides security solutions, alternatives, and recommendations across the full spectrum of the system, to include (but not limited to) threat management/preventing workplace violence, staff training, emergency procedure planning, access control, technology integration, risk-based staffing, training, contract management, policy-development, investigation & loss prevention, incident reporting/critical notifications, data analysis and tracking, program development and education, enhancing community partnership, crime prevention, risk assessment & mitigation, regulatory agency and law enforcement liaison, special event and V.I.P support, leader development, and governance. The North Star for this position is to mitigate reasonably foreseeable risks for the ultimate purpose of providing a safe environment to enable the delivery and receipt of high-quality healthcare. JOB FUNCTIONS: - Build, guide, direct, resource and lead the Sentara Healthcare Security Team.
- Serve as a single-source security subject matter expert to provide security solutions, alternatives, and recommendations across the full spectrum of the service line.
- Support operating units and system / freestanding entities with the full array of security services.
- Develop education and orientation that focus on efforts to achieve key program outcomes: reduced crime, lost time injury events and property loss, improved employee perceptions of safety.
- Manage security staffing and other vendor contracts while leveraging national competencies and cross-regional Best Practices to deliver superior results in the areas of service and quality while operating with high levels of employee engagement and cost effectiveness.
- Actively manage threats and risks along the full spectrum of workplace violence (inclusive of all types/sources); implement workplace violence prevention programs to achieve compliance and to achieve risk-mitigating capabilities/effectiveness in all parts of operation.
- Ensure Facility Security Plans are current, relevant, understood, comprehensive, compliant, and operationally useful.
- Partner with key stakeholders to conduct and manage Risk Assessments and work aggressively to mitigate risks identified in assessment recommendations.
- Implement daily shift reviews, incident reporting, incident inquiry, and use of analytical results to optimize security staffing, technologies, and processes.
- Develop, maintain and monitor security services plans, policies, protocols, guidelines and risk assessments.
- Integrate and apply security services organizational competencies.
- Develop and implement design build security standards which are integrated into new construction and renovations.
- Create and adopt relevant policies, to include providing training and ensuring operational integration of policy requirements.
