| Travel Analyst - Procurement Contracting and Payment Services 13290 Description The Procurement Contracting and Payment Services department at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Travel Analyst position. This position d evelops, implements, and executes strategic policies and programs for University travel, as well as manages the strategic sourcing and vendor relationships related to travel. The Travel Analyst serves as the University's subject matter expert on the travel industry and provides a high level of guidance to University stakeholders.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will: - Support the Travel Manager in the day-to-day management of the University's travel program.
- Support the Travel Manager in the development, implementation, and execution of strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management of travel suppliers.
- Serve as the University's subject matter expert of the University's travel program, including policy questions, system configuration, and program strategy.
- Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships, including effectively communicating and providing guidance to stakeholder and troubleshooting issues.
- Manage, report, and reduce exceptions to policy through education of travelers' violation of max fly rules, non-preferred hotel, lowest logical airfare, vehicle type, etc.
- Design and implement travel training for travelers and travel arrangers. Interface with other University departments, groups, and committees (i.e. Human Resources, Procurement, Finance, Tax, etc.) regarding inputs to travel related topics.

Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Communications or equivalent experience.
- At least one (1) year of experience in travel and expense program management in a mid to large organization.
Requirements - Demonstrated expertise in travel and expense policies and procedures in a mid to large organization
- Advanced knowledge of the Travel market, including card programs.
- Ability to negotiate moderate to complex agreements and communicate effectively with all parties internally and externally.
- Ability to manage change throughout a large organization.
- Advanced knowledge of travel and expense applications/systems.
- Ability to engage, educate and support internal customers, staff and business units.
- Excellent and effective troubleshooting skills and apply critical and analytical thinking concepts to work assignments and to resolve issues.
- Excellent initiative, attention to detail, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment, and to multi-task.
- Demonstrated experience with process improvements.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate clearly with customers, vendors and other business contacts.
- Strong analytical ability.
- Thorough working knowledge of automated financial information systems (Oracle preferred).
