Laboratory Manager needed to oversee the day-to-day activities of a large bio-bank.
Responsibilities
Responsible for organizing and accounting for human DNA, RNA, blood, urine and tissue samples.
Catalog sample locations across different sample types and databases.
Responsible for regularly reporting on the number of samples categorized by different criteria.
Identify and distribute bio-samples to lab members for research studies.
Perform basic molecular and cell biology experiments such as cell culture, cloning, transfection, mutagenesis, PCR, siRNA knockdown, and western blot.
Work closely with the Principal Investigators, lab members and other researchers to ensure adequacy and efficiency of the bio-bank.
Maintain the bio-bank and research laboratory supplies inventory by anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
Perform additional related duties as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus three years of related experience
Experience in handling human biological samples and nucleic acid handling
Experience with essential molecular biology and cell culture skills
Computer skills and database management experience
Strong organizational skills, and close attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication skills
Familiarity with basic molecular biology techniques
Team player and be willing to work with human blood samples
Preferred Qualifications
Advance degree in a related field
Experience in bio-sample storage, bar-coding, bio-bank workflows and management
Other Requirements
Work with laboratory animals
Participation in the medical surveillance program
Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure
Successful completion of applicable compliance and systems training requirements
