Reporting to SCRB's Assistant Director for Sponsored Research, this position is responsible for pre- and post-award management for a portfolio of three to six SCRB faculty members' sponsored and non-sponsored research funding. Primary responsibilities include: proposal and budget development; University and sponsor policy and guideline interpretation for faculty members and their lab personnel; forecasting expenses and providing regular as well as ad hoc financial reports to Department and faculty; reconciling faculty and lab research needs with overall financial picture and making recommendations regarding spending rates; monitoring accounts to ensure compliance with federal, University and/or sponsor regulations. Other duties include, but are not limited to: acting as effort report coordinator; approving payments over certain dollar thresholds; training lab managers and other lab personnel on sponsored research policies and procedures; assist in implementing policies at the department level and recommend process improvements; help to resolve issues related to research funding and related to migrating and/or transferring labs. This position will be a liaison to Office of Sponsored Programs and other relevant offices in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Harvard Medical School and its Affiliated Hospitals We invite individuals with diverse backgrounds, experiences and abilities to be a part of our community Salary Grade: 056 Union: 55 - Hvd Union Cler & Tech Workers

3 years of experience in sponsored research administration Bachelor's Degree and five years directly related work experience in an academic environment are strongly preferred. Sound knowledge of NIH grant policies and Uniform Guidance. Experience with other federal and non-federal sponsors preferred. Must be able to prioritize multiple assignments and meet deadlines, and be able to us a high degree of judgment to make sound decisions. The ability to handle sensitive information and to communicate with faculty effectively is essential. Demonstrated commitment to customer service and willingness to take on additional tasks is required. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills required. Experience with Harvard financial systems/reporting applications preferred (GMAS, OBI, PI Dashboard). Proficiency with Microsoft Office, and especially Excel.
