Job Responsibilities:

Outreach  (30%)

• Work with local and state stakeholders and University faculty, staff and students to strategically design, develop, implement, and evaluate sustainable education and outreach projects.
• Work with all partners to identify issues and opportunities to improve the social and familial circumstances of families involved in child welfare.
• Direct and oversee CASCW’s outreach efforts, and  program development.
• Implement project specific outreach, communication, and dissemination plans for individual events, publications, trainings, and events.
• Identify and engage relevant community partners (both internal and external to the University) for CASCW events, professional development activities, the development of specialized training products, and publications.
• Direct and oversee the development of up to 15 faculty training projects aimed to enhance the knowledge, skills and attitudes of the child welfare workforce. Provide technical and content expertise to faculty members on the creation of a variety of training products (online modules, videos, podcasts, case studies, training guides, presentations, etc.) monitoring project development with individual faculty partners.
• Develop and maintain liaisons with faculty and administrators at the School of Social Work as well as other relevant departments across the University on behalf of CASCW.

Workforce Development and Training  (25%)

• Identify and analyze training and resource gaps in the child welfare workforce, and design/implement resources to meet those needs
• Provide child welfare content expertise and consultation to faculty, staff and community partners in their development of professional development opportunities. 
• Conceptualize topic and content for all CASCW sponsored and cosponsored professional development opportunities/events, including speaker selection, agenda development, and logistical and technical preparation
• Guide the development of registration and marketing for all CASCW professional development events
• Direct and oversee logistics for web-accessible professional development activities
• Conceptualize and oversee the development of the Center’s annual flagship practice/policy/research publication, CW360 as well as any special editions developed by partners.
• Inform and approve content editing for all editions of CW360, and other publications as appropriate
• Facilitate and approve all aspects of production (topic selection, literature review, development, editing and layout) of all practice and public policy briefs
• Provide leadership and insight on collaborative special projects with University and community partners.

Public Policy (15%)

• Analyze public policies in order to determine potential impact on child welfare practice.
• Develop and maintain a legislative bill tracking tool for state legislation that impacts child welfare practice, including detailed analysis and summary of all relevant bills.
• Guide and mentor MSW and PhD student employees working on public policy bill tracking, blog writing, and policy briefs, and provides content expertise to inform their developing work.
• Respond to policy-related requests for information in a timely manner
• Produce, edit, and advise on the development of child welfare policy briefs for policymakers and legislators.
• Manage relationships between CASCW and legislators and legislative staff.
• Participate in the Child Well-being Network, a multi-disciplinary, collaborative advocacy group that develops child welfare public policy agendas for legislative sessions.
• Inform public policy resources and training materials for child welfare professionals responding to needs identified from the practice field.

Communication (15%)

• Administer and approve the development, layout, production and dissemination of all CASCW promotional materials and publications.
• Oversee CASCW communication strategies on social media and blog accounts.
• Consult with the University and CEHD communications and public policy staff as needed.
• Develop and edit content for the Center’s Child Welfare Policy Blog, providing in-depth analysis of current policy issues with child welfare practice implications.
• Guide and approve development of content structure/creation for the CASCW website

Supervision and Administration (10%)

• Provide day to day supervision to CASCW Outreach staff.
• Manage hiring and orientation activities related to the CASCW outreach staff and students.
• Locate and/or provide professional development opportunities, training and mentoring to staff and students to further develop relevant knowledge and skills.
• Guide professional development and ensure accountability for project activities for all outreach staff through regular meetings and communication.
• Participate in monthly CASCW All-Staff Meetings, Directors meetings, and bi-weekly Administrative Meetings.
• Participate in monthly SSW Council meetings and SSW committee meetings, as assigned.
• Present at professional conferences/meetings on behalf of CASCW as requested.
• Other Duties as Assigned  (5%)
• Provide academic advising to approximately 15 students in the Title IV-E Child Welfare Stipend program at the School of Social Work.
• Attend continuing education on workforce development.
• Regularly review goals and progress with supervisor.
• Other duties as assigned.
