Asst Dir, Budget&Fin Analysis

Position Summary The Assistant Director of Budget and Financial Analysis assists in the management of campus budget operations and in monitoring and reviewing budget-related financial information for the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC), and/or specific projects as assigned. Core responsibilities of this role relate to the engagement with the central administrative shared-services units and CUIMC's four schools, and via Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, with Columbia Doctors. The Assistant Director is a member of the Office of Budget and Finance (OBF) and reports to the Senior Director of Budget and Financial Analysis. Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent in experience and education, as well as 5 years of progressively comprehensive financial planning and analysis responsibility in a large, complex organization, required. MBA, MPA or comparable advance degree preferred and can be substituted in part for experience. Outstanding financial analysis skills required, including the ability to design and prepare detailed financial reports that include qualitative discussions of financial drivers, budgets and variances, and forward-looking implications. Necessary experience includes budget and/or other financial analysis, such as interpretation of financial statements. Expert-level computer proficiency (Microsoft Excel and Word) required, including an in-depth knowledge of spreadsheet packages. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a well-developed knowledge of quantitative analysis capable of working with minimal oversight to solve a problem or meet a need. Attention to detail, plus the ability to work closely and collaboratively with a diverse group of administrators is essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must, as is the ability to analyze and explain complex financial information.
