About the Opportunity: The Global Experience Office (GEO) is a central office of global education at Northeastern University, committed to ensuring that every Northeastern student has an opportunity to engage in intellectually challenging and culturally enriching experiences throughout the world. To achieve this, GEO partners with Northeastern colleges and units to integrate meaningful global experiences into their curricula and to enhance their capacity through global mobility. Northeastern's signature programs, including Dialogue of Civilizations, Global Engagement Program, Global Quest, the N.U.in Program, and Semester-In, are carefully designed to reflect the Northeastern University (NU) global mission, complement students' on-campus studies, deepen students' knowledge of the world and their chosen field of study, and help students develop intercultural and political sensitivity, utilize and strengthen foreign language skills, explore global career options, and grow as individuals. Through these programs, GEO facilitates global experiences for over 3,800 NU students and 200 additional foreign incoming students. Responsibilities: The Director of Global Experience Advising (Director) provides leadership and day-to-day management of the advising area across GEO programs, which includes outgoing and incoming exchange students. The Director maintains accountability for the advising group and assists the Senior Director for Global Learner Engagement to ensure coordination within the Global Learner Engagement division and across GEO's main operational functions. In partnership with the Senior Director for Global Learner Engagement, the Director develops enrollment strategies for GEO programs and for Incoming Exchange that are aligned with Northeastern 2025. This position sets enrollment targets and goals for the advising team and distributes them to the Colleges. The Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the 360-degree advising strategy and oversees the student advising cycle, including student engagement and outreach, all aspects of advising, application, course approval and selection, pre-departure orientations, health and safety policy compliance, re-entry programming, and re-engagement with GEO. The Director ensures quality and consistency of advising services and communications with students, parents, and other constituents across the advising team. The Director serves as part of a response team for international incidents and emergencies involving Northeastern students, along with WeCare and the International Safety Office (ISO). The Director collects and analyzes student education abroad data, including data on incidents and, in partnership with GEO leadership and ISO, and implements strategies for preventing incidents in the future. The Director interfaces with a variety of GEO stakeholders, domestic and international, NU and non-NU entities. The Director proactively engages, liaises with, and responds to academic advising departments and global co-op faculty to ensure GEO and GSSAC policies and processes are being communicated accurately, understood and followed. This position conducts site visits and attends, facilitates, and/or presents at meetings or conferences domestically and internationally. The Director is on-call to handle urgent and emergency issues as they arise. Qualifications:
