The Simulation Development Engineer contributes to the activities of the Boston Children's Simulator program as directed, performs a variety of engineering support in the planning, design, production of products, tools, and other mechanical and digital assets in support of the services provided by the SIMPeds Engineering Core. This Simulation Development Engineer II will be responsible for:

• Leading concept development and product design development project teams, and for technical contributions and project management.
• Applying experience with prototype and low-volume production injection mold design, and RTV Silicone molding to device development.
• Applying a high-level competency with traditional shop equipment (table saw, drill press, band saw) to prototype fabrication.
• Applying knowledge of various engineered materials and fabrication processes towards new product ideas, concepts, and design transition to industrialization.
• Coordinating and occasionally executing prototype and production sample builds, ensuring the product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design.
• Maintaining awareness of technological advances in areas of interest and regularly advising management team.
• Contributing to the technical advancement of the group. Supporting and may lead the identification of improvements to existing services or the addition of a new service to SIMPeds Engineering Core.
• Representing the SIMPeds group programs and services, actively teams and collaborates with internal and external partners.

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or similar field. Master's Degree preferred.
• 4 years minimum of related experience in one or more of the following: 3D Printing, Device Development, Immersive Technologies, Manufacturing, Materials, Project and Program Management, Engineering Operations, Technology Enabled Business Process Improvement. Advanced degree may substitute for experience.
• Prior experience with CNC machining / tool-path programing a plus.
• Familiarity with Healthcare Simulation, anatomic surgical trainers, or high-fidelity manikin development a plus.
• The ability to follow established best work practices.
• The ability to effectively work in a team, and to think critically, analyze options and to create great solutions to problems not previously encountered.
• The ability to approach the role with curiosity and persistent desire for continuous learning to maintain technical competence.
