Associate Dean for Research

Employment Type: Permanent Faculty Vacancy ID: FAC0003340 Salary Range: Salary commensurate with experience Position Summary/Description: The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing, a research The Associate Dean for Research reports to the Dean. S/he works closely with other Associate and Assistant Deans to facilitate the research endeavors of the school and faculty and works closely with the Associate Dean of the PhD Division and PhD Program to facilitate extramural grant submissions by doctoral and postdoctoral students. The Associate Dean also works closely with and maintains liaison relationships with various University research offices and committees. The Associate Dean serves as Chair of the Research Support Center Policy Board, a six-member board of faculty elected from the Tenure Track faculty. The Policy Board is advisory to the Associate Dean on policy and strategic priorities for the Research Support Center and serves as the review panel for school awarded small grants. Reporting to the Associate Dean is the Research Support Center staff, including the Director, research consultants, editors, statisticians, statistical programmers, administrative assistants, processing assistants, research assistants, and budget personnel. As Division Head (Research Division), the Associate Dean oversees faculty recruitment, appointment and promotion, and performance evaluations for faculty whose primary focus is on research-related endeavors, advocates for these faculty as needed in various school forums, and holds regular meetings of the Division faculty. Regularly scheduled meetings of the Dean’s Leadership Team, Executive Team, the Academic Affairs and Policy Council (AAPC), the Assembled Faculty, PhD Faculty, and standing and ad hoc committees and task forces provide formal mechanisms for the Associate Dean to develop and maintain collaborative relationships within the school.
