Initial Review Date (IRD): 12-08-2020 Dept Marketing Statement The Associate Director (AD) for Engagement for Career Success offers an exciting opportunity to operationalize the career success ecosystem at UC Santa Cruz. This work centers on the strategic implementation that expands the reach of career readiness throughout the student experience, team development and a focus on cross-campus partnerships. These activities will align the team and catalyze the Career Success Team's vital role in creating social and economic mobility for the students of UC Santa Cruz. It will also establish the Team and the university as national leaders for innovation in career development. The Associate Director will be responsible for implementing and sustaining a new framework for delivering career success programs and services, and will utilize principles of change management and organizational effectiveness to transform the program. The Associate Director will hire and on-board new team members and train and orient current team members while maintaining high staff morale and standards. Reporting to the Executive Director for Career Success, the Associate Director manages the career engagement function within Career Success. The Career Engagement team is focused on building partnerships with academic divisions, the Colleges, campus partners, and partners in industry in an effort to create a robust pipeline for career opportunities for students - from declaring a major to securing work beyond UCSC - and everything in between. The Associate Director determines and evaluates procedures and practices for the program, and recommends to senior management changes in policy. Develops the short term strategic and organizational goals of the unit. Has staff, budgetary, and other resource responsibility for the program. Represents the program in interactions with other internal and external organizations. The Associate Director will be a mission-driven visionary committed to delivering exceptional experiences to students and prepare them for life after UC Santa Cruz. The Division of Student Affairs and Success provides campus-wide coordination and leadership for student success programs and activities across departments, divisions, colleges, and administrative units. The Student Affairs and Success Division includes Career Success, the Student Success Resource Centers, Dean of Students, Student Conduct, and Student Health, which all provide direct services and resources to students, and the Student Success Equity Research Center (SSERC), which provides data, research, and evaluation support for the campus and manages the adviser case management, early alert, and predictive analytics systems that are part of the student success initiatives. The Mission of UCSC Career Success is to prepare students for what they want to do with their lives by developing relevant career skills.
