As a Physician Billing Coordinator III, you will develop and maintain excellent working relationships with Cedars-Sinai Clinical/Billing departments and serve as the liaison between Physician Billing/Reimbursement Services and Clinical Departments in the coordination of projects and activities. You will also be relied upon as a resource for information on coding, billing and compliance issues.

Essential Duties:

  • Perform quality assurance reviews, documenting any variances and reports changes to Management of both patient Physician Billing and Reimbursement Services.

  • Correctly assign CPT and ICD-9 codes utilizing operative and other various medical reports. Reviews charts to ascertain all diagnoses and procedures.

  • Maintain current CPT and ICD-9 knowledge of assigned areas so that coding remains current.

  • Input all charges and relative insurance information into IDX Billing and Accounts Receivable system.

  • Maintain production Charge Review Workques so that reconciliations are routinely performed.

  • Ensures that all coding is completed in a timely manner as determined by the departments policy and procedure

  • Verifies insurance eligibility. Enter charges and appropriate adjustments to respective patient's accounts. When applicable, accept patient payments.

  • Assists with identification and development of appropriate coding for new services and procedures provided by clinicians.

  • Compiles information regarding provider reimbursement for services including frequency, level of payment, and other criteria as established by the practice.

  • Oversees existing practice patterns of faculty physicians reporting any significant variances to a supervisor.

  • Identifies coding deficiencies and recommends corrective action to improve third-party reimbursement and minimize audit liability.

  • Coordinates the review of medical records and financial accounts with providers to maximize reimbursement for procedures performed.

  • Keeps apprised of rules and regulations affecting coding and reimbursement
