The Executive Director of Human Resources has overall leadership and supervisory
responsibility for leading, planning and managing MassArt's human resources
functions in accordance with the policies, procedures, and practices of the College
and in compliance with all applicable laws and labor contracts.
Areas of responsibility include employee and labor relations, benefits and wellness,
compensation, performance management, employee development, human resources
information systems, talent acquisition and management, succession planning, and
evaluation of the human resources operation.
MassArt is a small-sized employer and all of the HR staff, including the executive
director, perform the operational work. This is a hands-on position, working
collaboratively to re-imagine the department with the HR staff to support MassArt
employees (approximately 375 permanent FTE).

Summary of Duties

- Ensures the operations and administration of all human resource functions
including the preparation of the human resource budget and directs and
implements all college initiatives and projects associated with a
comprehensive administration of the Human Resources Department.

- Implements the collective bargaining process, oversees the administration of
and ensures compliance with contractual agreements, including grievance
procedures.

-  Ensures the effectiveness of employee onboarding, professional
development, and engagement and recognition programs, to provide all
employees opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

- Works with Administration and Finance to coordinate bi weekly payroll and
annual payroll budget.

-  Leads, develops and mentors the human resources team, to provide excellent
employee and labor relations and provide responsive, innovative services for
employees.

- Maintains current knowledge of and interprets, implements and complies
with federal, state, local laws and labor contracts that affect the human
resources functions of the College, including mandatory training
requirements.

- Ensures that supervisors and College leaders consistently administer College
policies and procedures related to human resource management, are advised
on personnel matters, and are supported in developing a culture of
accountability, shared governance, innovation and employee engagement.

- Maintains and improves systems to process human resources transactions
and employee files and records and conducts research, collects data,
provides analysis and prepares reports relevant to the College’s human
resources operation.

- Ensures a diverse faculty and staff by developing a culture of equity,
inclusion, and accessibility through the implementation of college policies,
procedures and professional development. Collaborates with and supports
the College’s Culture and Compliance groups on strategic efforts involving
EEO, Affirmative Action, ADA, and Title IX.

- Serves on the President’s Leadership Team and attends a variety of College
and external activities, some that occur in the evenings or on weekends.
