Department OFFICE OF THE UNIVERSITY CONTR (UA-CTRO-IUBLA) Job Summary The Analyst, External Financial Reporting is primarily responsible for the preparation of the University's annual financial statements for external audit. This includes: preparation and documentation of certain journal entries and work papers during the year-end audit; preparation, documentation, and review of financial statement note disclosures; providing timely responses to auditor questions and requests for information to the Director of Financial Reporting; and analyzing and adjusting university-wide financial data, as needed. Other responsibilities include internal and financial reporting and analysis (ad hoc as needed), GASB compliance, financial analysis, and integrity of general ledger data. This position will be primarily responsible for documenting accounting processes within the Financial Reporting team to ensure best practice as well as compliance with internal policies and external audit requirements inclusive of evaluating for efficiencies and areas of continuous improvement. This will include systems evaluations (systematic entries and processes), as well as manual processes. This position will design reports and methodologies to carry out accounting initiatives, and communicate recommendations to management team. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting and two years of experience in a business or financial setting. Advanced skill level using application software. Advanced knowledge of financial systems. Advanced analytical skills. Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information. Ability to work effectively with all levels of university faculty and staff, including departmental staff, departmental management, campus administration, and Executive Management. Ability to communicate issues clearly and concisely with all levels and offer viable recommendations. Ability to be sensitive to others as a representative of the Office of the University Controller. Preferred Qualifications CPA. Working Conditions / Demands Equipment utilized: PC running enterprise software.
