Milton Hershey School (MHS) is seeking a Transitional Living Coordinator (TLC) for a female residence facility. The TLC is responsible for oversight of the facility and its 20 plus female high school senior residents, as well as affiliated staff. The Transitional Living Program is designed to intentionally prepare the student residents for success in life post-graduation through providing independent living experiences and life-skills programming.
The TLC provides the leadership and oversight for the staff and student residents. The TLC leads, mentors and supervises staff and students, as well as develops and delivers educational programming, events, and recreational activities. The TLC is accountable for staff management, building oversight, budget oversight, and overall safety of staff and students. The TLC actively engages with students, establishing relationships and mentorships to guide the students in their personal and professional development, which includes a strengths-based approach and restorative justice practices. The TLC also regularly interacts with the residents’ families of origin.
In collaboration with other Transitional Living staff, the TLC develops and implements experiential learning opportunities and programs for students to promote their skill development through self-responsibility. Special focus includes time management & financial management, as well as self-management skills such as self-discipline, health and wellness strategies, and social skills. There is a focus on helping seniors learn balance & discipline, leading to achievement of academic outcomes required for graduation and post-graduate success.
Qualifications:
Must be able to work 12 consecutive days (mornings and evenings), followed by 3 days off.
Residence in the transitional living facility is required. (Due to the nature of housing, unable to accommodate children and pets. No smoking permitted. No alcohol while on duty.)
Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Human Services, Social Work, Behavioral Sciences or related field.
Master's degree in Higher Education Administration or affiliated program is a plus.
Prior residential employment experience supervising adolescents or young adults required.
Prior staff supervision experience required.
Skills in counseling, mentoring, & advising youth required.
Budget oversight experience a plus.
Demonstrated success in developing & implementing life & social skills programming for adolescents a plus.
Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills, including skills in conflict resolution and crisis response.
Proficiency in using technology including Microsoft applications, Apple applications, internet and social media.
Driver’s license in excellent standing required.
Fluency in Spanish a plus.
Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of integrity as all staff are considered role models for students.
Must be willing to actively engage with students on an extensive basis.
