We are a close-knit team of talented, dedicated, and fun-loving IT professionals with a great reputation among our community. Our department is evolving with the times and we are excited about the opportunities for modernization and broader use of our services fomented by the global changes to higher education. About the Position
In this role you would manage the overall operations, systems, and staff of the College’ s networking and application support services. You would be responsible for administration, design and development of Pitzer’s technical infrastructure, including networking, local servers and storage, cloud services, web and database servers, and information security systems.
In addition to supervising a small team of technical and application support staff, you would oversee outside contractors providing system management and development. You will complete your work in a team environment with the other department staff, and collaborate with colleagues across Pitzer and the consortium. You would also provide expert consultation on technical matters and contribute to the development of policies and procedures, as well as participate in and represent Pitzer on various college and inter-collegiate committees.
While no two days are ever the same, you will likely spend time during the day on system integrity checks, monitoring logs, and checking in with the staff that report to you. You could attend a meeting of one of the consortium’s IT operating committees (such as Information Security or Identity Access Management), work on various long-term projects like coordinating the installation of the new switches that came in, consult with one of our cabinet members about infrastructure plans in a new building, and look into transitioning DNS to Azure.
Location: Pitzer College has temporarily transitioned to online instruction during the pandemic. You will be working remotely at the start of your employment and this will be re-evaluated once the College determines that staff will begin to return to our campus in Claremont, California.
Work Schedule: You will work as an exempt employee full-time for 12 months out of the year; typically, 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday. As the lead for our technical infrastructure, you would be required to work some evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
Pay: The monthly salary will be commensurate with the required qualifications. The pay range will be available to interviewed applicants by written request to the Office of Human Resources at StaffJobs@pitzer.edu.
Benefits: This position is eligible for Pitzer College’s full program of employee benefits subject to the terms and conditions in the plan documents/policies, including: medical, dental, vision, group life insurance of $50,000, 2% employer retirement contributions (temporarily reduced; anticipated to return to 12% in the future), tuition remission*, gym/fitness resources including a personal trainer (when campus is open), and more. *Note: Restrictions or service requirements apply.
