The OHSU registered nurse (RN) provides compassionate, evidence-based, and efficient care to individuals, families, communities and patient populations. As an OHSU VAD Coordinator, you will coordinate the comprehensive specialized care for advanced heart failure patients in both the inpatient and outpatient environment. These patients are candidates for advanced heart failure therapy using MCS/VAD support with the intent of either bridge to transplant or destination therapy. You will also play a vital role in patient evaluation, optimal treatment and follow-up care.

• BSN (internal applicants, BSN preferred)
• Current unencumbered Oregon RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS
  • At time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA (upload documentation with online application)
  • Must not expire during orientation or probation period, and must have the same expiration date (upload documentation with online application)
• Minimum of 5 years' cardiac clinical experience with an understanding of adult cardiology and cardiothoracic critical care patients or minimum of 3 years' current experience including 2 years working with VADs or equivalent experience
• Ability to work a minimum of eight hours per day or longer, according to case requirements
• Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Working Conditions:

• Ability to work a minimum of eight hours per day and longer, according to case requirements.
• The appointee is available whenever cardiac mechanical device/VAD/CT surgery needs arise.
• Ability to take call, as scheduled for periods of greater than 24 hours.
• Ablility to work in stressful, fast-paced work environment

• Master's Degree in Nursing
• Previous MSC/VAD experience

Orientation period: minimum 3 months
