The George Mason University, School of Business invites applications for the position of Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations. The Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations will plan and implement a variety of strategies to raise funds from major donors and secure significant philanthropic support for School of Business priorities. The School of Business is pursuing three strategic directions through research, teaching, and partnerships: 1. Digital Transformation of Work; 2. Ensuring Global Futures by addressing the challenges of ensuring a livable and resilient society; and 3. Entrepreneurship and Innovation. To support these strategic initiatives, the School of Business is playing a significant role in three new university initiatives: the Institute for Digital InnovAtion (IDIA); the Institute for a Sustainable Earth (ISE); and the School of Computing.

Responsibilities:

• Promote alumni and donor engagement through management of School of Business advisory boards (250+ members), including the Alumni Chapter Board, committees, etc., that serve as the interface between the school and external constituencies;
• Obtain annual financial support ($250,000 minimum) for the university by performing one-on-one visits, primarily with advisory board members, to secure multi-year commitments; identifying sponsors for School of Business programs, events and initiatives; and upgrading mid-level donors;
• Spearhead School of Business Prominent Patriot awards nomination process, selection committee, recognition efforts and engagement activities;
• Through Leaders in the Classroom, serve as a resource for School of Business areas and centers seeking to contact and engage alumni for their classes, career panels, mentorship, and capstone judging;
• Partner with the University's annual fund office and the Marketing Manager to produce well-designed, on-message virtual and written appeals, managing the mailing list to ensure accuracy and segmentation, and coordinate the scheduling and suppressions;
• Participate on the School's Scholarship Committee, ensure scholarships are properly awarded, and oversee stewardship activities including connecting donors with their scholarship recipients;
• Handle all confidential materials and discussions with appropriate discretion;
• Develop strategies, briefing materials, proposals and acknowledgments for the Dean;
• Assist Director of Development in preparation of annual and strategic plans for fundraising initiatives and oversees implementation of these plans;
• Carry a portfolio of 80-125 individual and corporate donors that are being moved through the donor engagement process culminating in Leadership Annual and Major gifts (as defined by George Mason's Advancement team);
• Actively engage each prospect in their portfolio to ensure prospect movement and portfolio penetration annually;
• Conduct an average of 10 visits (or meaningful interactions) per month or a total of 120 visits per year;
• Conduct a minimum number of discovery visits with prospects each year in accordance with guidelines established by Central Advancement;
