About the Position As the Research Analyst you will be an integral part of the College’s data team. You will coordinate the collection, analysis, and timely dissemination of data with academic and student affairs, as well as administrative offices. You will develop database-driven tracking systems to analyze and report information related to campus compliance with federal, state, and accreditation policies and timelines. You will collaborate with multiple and varied offices throughout the campus to design a data collection schedule and report templates. You will provide data and technical guidance to support problem identification, resource and program development, and evaluation of programs and services across different offices. You will develop, administer, and analyze surveys, and other instruments, related to assessing and evaluating institutional efficiency and effectiveness in executing the College’s mission. You will coordinate the construction and archiving of data files in order to analyze ad hoc and/or longitudinal data. You will coordinate the production of executive summaries and reports for a wide array of audiences. You will contribute to the development and production of various annual reports for internal and external stakeholders and assist with the College’s compliance with reporting requirements. You will participate in meetings and committee work to support evidence-informed decision-making. Location: Pitzer College has temporarily transitioned to a remote teaching, learning, and working environment during the pandemic. Therefore, you will be working remotely at the start of your employment and this will be re-evaluated once the College determines that staff will begin to return to our campus in Claremont, California. Work Schedule: You will be working full-time (40 hours per week, 12 months per year) as a non-exempt employee (paid hourly). Your regular work hours will be 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, with a one-hour lunch break; your hours may vary due to needs of the College or department. Pay: This position is paid every two weeks on an hourly basis at a rate that is commensurate with the required qualifications. About You You have a passion for applied research and have conducted research in a higher education setting. Your skill in analyzing volumes of complex data using statistical techniques and software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, and SAS) will be evident in your work history and supported by your references. If you know SQL, we are especially interested in hearing about it. Otherwise, you must be able to learn basic SQL. You can easily speak to your experience working with and properly maintaining large complex datasets. We expect this to mean you can manage confidential data effectively and operate with integrity, discretion, and professionalism. Your strong communication skills are evident in your effectiveness with summarizing and sharing complex data and key findings, both in writing and verbally. You illuminate narratives based on evidence in a manner that is meaningful to and accessible for stakeholders across the institution. You speak English fluently, persuasively, and cordially with people from backgrounds different from your own and have an appreciation for a socially aware environment. You value collaborative work and can effectively manage a workflow that includes multiple participants, projects, and deadlines. At the same time, you enjoy and are skilled at working independently to produce accurate, detailed, and professional quality work with minimal direction. Education: You have a bachelor’s degree, or preferably a master’s, in the social sciences, statistics, higher education, and/or related disciplines. Experience: You have two to three years of experience working in assessment, program evaluation, and/or quantitative and qualitative research methods, including: data analysis using statistical techniques and software; reporting data and research in a meaningful and digestible format, and conducting research in a higher education setting.
