Dana-Farber Cancer Institute outsources information services to Mass General Brigham. This role is assigned to Dana-Farber and works exclusively with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute Division of Philanthropy constituents. The role reports directly to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute with a dotted line to the Sr. Vice President, Chief Philanthropy (CPO) Officer, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. As a member of the senior leadership team within the Division of DFCI Philanthropy, the role will have the title of Associate Vice President, Philanthropy IS at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. General Summary/Overview Statement The Senior Manager oversees a portfolio of information technology products and/or services in support of Partners Healthcare and affiliate organizations. S/he works with leadership to set goals and objectives and oversees the work of one or more teams to achieve those objectives. S/he leads large projects and other initiatives and/or directs others in the same. The Senior Manager is responsible for developing and managing budgets in a manner consistent with the budget framework established by leadership. S/he is accountable for budget performance and identifying opportunities to improve cost-effectiveness. The Senior Manager provides strong human resources management, including regular feedback, timely reviews, mentoring and career conversations. S/he is responsible for attracting, retaining, developing and engaging high quality staff. The specifics associated with the Senior Manager role are described in the attached Position Summary. Principal Duties and Responsibilities • Serving as an innovative, energetic leader who will be expected to demonstrate significant understanding of and experience with Philanthropy technology solutions to leverage technology to achieve the goals of the Philanthropy division. • Developing full understanding of current Philanthropy operations and fund-raising programs and combining this learning with industry best practices and input from the CIO & CPO to identify, plan, implement, monitor and evaluate strategic Philanthropic technology solutions with a direct impact on the ability to raise funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. • This leader must be a motivated leader with a desire to learn and advance a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in their teams and in their role as member of the senior leadership team. • Serving as a member of the DFCI IS senior leadership team. Expectations include navigating in a complex environment and collaborating with colleagues to navigate change management. Adherence to Mass General Brigham policies and procedures and participate in the Mass General Brigham Information Services leadership meetings is also expected. • Oversight of an operating budget of approximately $5M, and a range of capital budgets as needed. Mass General Brigham and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute budgeting and fiscal policies will be followed. Ability to build, proactively monitor and maintain successful vendor relationships to ensure contracts and vendor services are efficient and effective. • Design and implement plans for the provision of technology, maintenance, and support services for all users in the Division. • This position manages a team of site-based technology staff embedded in the Philanthropy division who implement new solutions, provide exceptional customer support and adhere to Information Services ITIL standards for managing software and hardware solutions. Philanthropy IS supports applications, associated devices, and processes related to donor management and revenue generation. Philanthropy IS provides a range of services to assist with achievement of revenue goals and operational efficiencies by focusing on maintaining strong relationships, understanding priorities, and bringing solutions forward. The teams have broad and deep IT expertise customized for the ever- changing DFCI Philanthropy environment. • The successful candidate will be comfortable on the cutting edge of technology with an understanding of how the next "best thing" may help drive the raising of funds. This front of the line approach cannot compromise the deployment and maintenance standards expected of Information Services support. • Key areas of focus and knowledge for this leader include data management and analytics, HIPAA -protected information and technology solutions that will support and enhance fundraising efforts. Successful deployment of tools and raising funds must be aligned with a strong donor management solution and donor analytics. Using data to find the trends and make recommends completes the partnership between the Information Services team and the Philanthropy business units. • The incumbent will work closely with business committees, Mass General Brigham Information Systems (IS) management, and cross-business process teams to develop an overall framework and process for identifying, planning and implementing strategic initiatives. They will provide innovative and proactive assessment of business technology requirements, and will ensure the research, analysis and interviews necessary to select appropriate information technologies are completed. • Travel to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute buildings and events; as well as potential travel to Mass General Brigham locations for IS meetings. All travel will be in line with federal, state and company infection control policies. • Responsibilities include participating as the on-call IS Administrator on rotating basis as well as occasional evening, night, weekend hours as needed for Philanthropy work. • Supervisory responsibilities include management of 3-5 direct reports with overall supervisory responsibilities for 20 FTE. • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by Department and Division Management. Qualifications Qualifications • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Master's Degree a plus. • 8+ years of related experience in healthcare or a related field. • 3+ years of prior management experience in healthcare or a related field. Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Extensive experience in project management, product management and/or service management methods. • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of the organization. • Demonstrated commitment to delivery of high-quality customer service. • Demonstrated experience as a collaborator, working across different teams/groups and with vendors to achieve results. Experience in negotiation. • Understanding of core financial concepts with a focus on expense management; experience developing and managing budgets. • Proven ability to attract, mentor and develop staff. Working Conditions • Standard office environment with the potential of travel to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Partners HealthCare locations. • May need to work in patient care areas • May require 24X7 responsibilities including evening, night and weekend hours as needed. Supervisory Responsibility • Responsible for a team of 15 or more staff, consultants or other temporary staff. Fiscal Responsibility • Responsible for developing and managing the budget for one or more cost centers. Budgets will exceed $500,000.
