General Overview In partnership with the Sr. Medical Director for Specialty Programs. the Medical Director for Clinical Collaboration, and other key leaders at MGB and the entities, the Program Director will provide administrative leadership, management, and staff support for specialty collaboration committees and programs. The Program Director will oversee the development, implementation and management of programs to engage specialists in quality and efficiency of care and facilitate clinical collaboration through established and growing systemwide leadership committees. This position requires strong leadership skills and project management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, professional maturity and knowledge of advanced analytics. The position requires collaboration with other related groups within the Mass General Brigham Enterprise (i.e. eCare, Center for Population Health, Data and Analytics, Information Systems) and other outside vendors. Principal Duties and Responsibilities • Guide the management of approximately 20 committees and workgroups that support Mass General Brigham's goals for improved patient care and efficiency. This includes annual goal setting, guideline development, and development and adoption of system-wide policies of care. Launch new committees, as needed. • Collaborate with medical leadership to formulate short and long-term strategic plans for Mass General Brigham's specialty programs and lead the ongoing development and implementation. • Coordinate and disseminate information across committees, connecting activities amongst the committees as well as connecting these groups to other Mass General Brigham efforts and groups/committees. • Provide direct management of 6-10 staff. Ensure that staff are appropriately informed, supported, trained, guided and evaluated. Provide regular feedback, complete annual performance evaluations of direct reports in a timely and thorough manner and perform all other functions which constitute proper supervision of staff. • Guide the identification and leverage tools to successfully support the data capture of preferred clinical workflows based on guidelines, including EHR data. • Guide the analysis of clinical/financial patient data and publication of system-level quality reports/analyses. • Establish contacts and strong working relationships with clinical leaders, network leaders and leaders of quality departments at each Partners site and other departments within Mass General Brigham including Business Planning, to gain support for a robust set of specialty program initiatives. • Manage external registry contracts as needed for Mass General Brigham committees • Consult with network leaders and practices about their specialty needs • Coordinate with entities and provide support on the rollout of specialty programs, such as Palliative Care and CKD, ensuring an appropriate level of consistency and the transfer of best practices • Act as the administrative leader for the development, management, and adjudication of the specialty program measures for Mass General Brigham internal performance framework (IPF) • Oversee the purchase, development and ongoing maintenance of applications and other technology to support specialty programs • Perform data analysis using the Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and or other data systems to support analytic program needs • Oversee the evaluation of the outcomes of specialty programs • Stay informed about national developments related to quality and patient engagement • Respond to issues raised by stakeholders, practices, hospitals and prospects • Provide effective financial oversight of central and local budgets • Ensure that deliverables stay on target to be completed in projected timeline, and identify and overcome any obstacles or threats to that goal Qualifications Qualifications • BS/BA or equivalent required • Masters degree Business, Health Management, Public Health, or Public Policy preferred • 8+ years' experience in health care, preferably in a provider setting • Previous management experience preferred • Extensive experience implementing and managing large, complex, multi-dimensional projects • Experience in clinical project management, consulting, or clinical/financial data analysis • Experience in health care quality measurement, reporting, and improvement • Experience using and synthesizing clinical and claims data preferred. Experience working with ICD-9 codes, ICD-10 codes, DRGs, MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs, CPT codes a plus. Skills, Abilities, Competencies Required • Ability to develop effective relationships with a broad array of people from diverse backgrounds and various levels of the management hierarchy. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with clinical staff a plus. • Ability to think about strategic problems, generate and present options, and facilitate consensus and decision-making among constituent clinical groups and executive leadership. Ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. • Strong analytic skills; ability to turn data into information o Fluency in data analysis and data manipulation o Proficiency in statistical relationships and concepts o Fluency in PC /Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint o Strong analytic communication skills including preparing cogent, appealing PowerPoint slides and presenting to clinical and administrative audiences. • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and projects, meet deadlines and manage to schedule. • Ability to manage expansive programs within a complex matrix organization • Ability to prioritize and resolve critical issues efficiently and effectively • Influencing skills to engage clinicians and other leaders • Ability to effectively present ideas and information in a variety of formats to a wide range of audiences • Experience with Microsoft Office applications • Solid understanding of the health care environment • Strong personnel management skills • Local intermittent travel to Mass General Brigham hospitals and corporate offices for meetings • Evening/early AM committee meetings as scheduled EEO Statement Mass General Brigham is an Equal Opportunity Employer & by embracing diverse skills, perspectives and ideas, we choose to lead.
