DESCRIPTIONUnder direction, the Landscape Superintendent will plan, direct, coordinate and supervise staff in all phases of Landscape Service Operations for a major campus, including but not limited to: Turf Management, Tree Maintenance, Maintenance of Open Turf and Shrubs, Outdoor Litter Control, Application of Fertilizers, Operation and Maintenance of Irrigation Systems (manual and semi-automated), Maintenance of Tools, Supervise Refuse Disposal and Campus Special Event Support Coordination. Provide daily supervision and direction to operational staff to deliver services, and provide excellent customer service and accurate service information to customers and the campus community. Work closely with external and internal customers to plan and schedule work for assigned team and campus areas and to establish scope of work and to identify timelines for completion. Screen applications, interview candidates and make selection recommendations for decisions on new hires. Coach and provide technical guidance to team members to build confidence and improve skills while ensuring consistency in landscape maintenance throughout all campus areas. Instruct assigned team members in proper safety practices and ensure constructive participation in departmental safety programs and safety committees. Ensure that accidents/injuries on the job are reported and investigated promptly, prepare all required information, and notify and submit accidents reports to departmental contacts appropriately. Use electronic work management program (Maximo) for project scheduling and management, personnel management and work quality control, project cost accounting and account reconciliation. Review work orders in Maximo and inspect sites where work is to be performed. Estimate time, cost, labor, equipment and material needs. Assign personnel and order necessary equipment and materials. Discuss job details with subordinates to ensure conformity with work orders, specifications, and safety standards. Review, approve, and maintain time and material records including: time cards, material requisitions, purchase orders, work orders and backlog reports utilizing Maximo and HBS electronic work management and time keeping system. Use Microsoft Office Suite of software to create special presentation materials (charts, spreadsheets, Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, etc.) for strategic planning and technical report writing.
