Senior Advisor- Economic Mobility - CCI

Center for Civic Impact’s Center for Government Excellence (GovEx) is hiring a Senior Advisor, Economic Mobility, with subject matter expertise in economic mobility issue areas, who is core to the implementation of data management, performance management, and advanced analytics technical assistance to numerous local governments across GovEx’s portfolio. Senior Advisors play a critical role delivering world class client services and resources to city leadership.
To support the implementation of data management, performance, and analytics practices in cities, Senior Advisors serve on the frontline coordinating efforts with mayors’ offices and city leadership. GovEx Senior Advisors are subject matter experts who guide the research and analysis necessary to determine local governments’ facility to use data and evidence in decision making and operational functions. They also work hand-in-hand with city leadership to build and advance its data management, performance, and data analytics practices.
This Senior Advisor will mainly support local governments working towards economic mobility goals. Specifically, the successful candidate will support the Opportunity Accelerator (OA), a partnership initiative among GovEx, Results for America (RFA), Government Performance Lab (GPL) at the Harvard Kennedy School, and Code for America (CfA). OA is designed to work in close partnership with state and local stakeholders to help advance economic mobility outcomes and eliminate racial gaps in outcomes for residents. OA seeks to do this by dramatically improving the impact of government investments in a small number of jurisdictions. OA will help communities to diagnose root causes of problems; design, implement, and evaluate policies and programs; and work closely with placed-based partnerships to accelerate economic recovery.
This position reports to the Center for Government Excellence’s Director.
Civic Impact is committed to working with communities that are focused on ending legacies of structural, entrenched racism and oppression. Senior Advisors must be willing to think about reimagined government, knowledge, and engagement models through the lens of dismantling these legacies.

Minimum Qualifications: GovEx Senior Advisors are energetic, engaged professionals with outstanding writing and interpersonal skills with:
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years related experience in economic mobility, as well as, working in public policy, public administration, or a related field, particularly with local government strongly preferred. Graduate degree in public administration, public policy, or a similar field is preferred
Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Physical Requirements: Sitting, standing and walking for extended period. Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers rather than with whole hand(s) or arm(s). Ability to move about the work environment.

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. Failure to meet this requirement may result in termination of employment.
The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
