The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is located in the heart of downtown LA and is the largest private employer in the City of Los Angeles. The University of Southern California, Gould School of Law invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Academic Services and the Dean of the Gould School of Law, the position is responsible for the strategic direction of the school’s Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) activities and promoting a diverse, equitable and respectful environment for faculty, staff and students. The major responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Qualifications: Applicants must demonstrate a clear commitment toward supporting and promoting diversity, equity and inclusion of students, faculty and staff from differing backgrounds. Qualifications include a history of successful leadership in promoting diversity and engaging in activities that support equity and respect in the work or educational environment. The successful candidate must also have experience with antiracist/antibias and culturally responsive pedagogy or other equivalent expertise. They must possess strong leadership abilities and organizational skills, good judgment, excellent verbal/written communication. Must be able to speak authentically about the imperative for diversity, equity, and inclusion in the school. Preferred Education: Juris Doctorate degree Preferred Experience: 5+ years in higher education Qualifications may also include one or more of the following: A master’s or doctorate degree; at least three years of successful Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion experience; demonstrated program management and design; and, a strong record of established relationships with other business professionals and with professional organizations Application Requirements: Applicants must upload a resume and a statement that illustrates a commitment to diversity and inclusion efforts to be considered for this position.
