Summary and Scope of Position: Campus Safety is a division of Student Affairs that provides safety, security, and parking and traffic services; enforces College policies and procedures and protects life and property within the College community. Campus Safety Officers (CSO) report to the Director of Campus Safety and are vital front-line Student Affairs Professional Staff. CSOs are non-sworn, unarmed employees tasked with providing a safe and secure environment for the Ursinus community and all its members. They act as first responders to all critical incidents on campus, begin the incident management process, and initiate appropriate emergency response procedures as needed. CSOs respond to reports of crimes, suspicious activities, and other general calls for service and prepare detailed written reports of activities. They also conduct proactive patrol of College buildings, facilities, and property and work collaboratively with other College departments, as well as external emergency response agencies, in resolving incidents. CSOs interact with members of the Ursinus community in a professional and positive manner, employing effective community-service oriented techniques and tactics while providing a safe and secure environment for College community members to work, live, and pursue their academic goals and objectives. This position requires the ability to work 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, as well as weekends and holidays, and is expected to be available for occasional overtime. Training, both on campus in-service and off-site, is assigned as needed. Specific Responsibilities:
