The RN provides care consistent with ASPAN standards and evidence based practice. The RN is responsible for participating in the growth of the nursing profession and continuous improvement to achieve best practice in our unit to increase the value of care we provide to our patients and families.

We provide fast-paced, family-centered, pediatric PeriAnesthesia care. We care for a variety of pediatric patient populations ranging from neonates to young adults who include ambulatory, inpatient, urgent/emergent surgeries, after hours sedation and prolonged procedural recoveries. Acuity levels vary from clinic patients to day surgery to critical care pediatric patients. Strong collegial relationships with all interdisciplinary team members, especially our pediatric anesthesiology providers, are fostered.

• All RNs work in Pre-op, Phase 1 and Phase 2 areas
• Constant exposure to usual hospital environmental conditions such as blood and body fluids
• Standing for prolonged periods
• Pushing stretchers, beds and cribs
• Rotational on call weekends, off hours, holidays
• Must be able to report to the unit within 45 minutes of being called in when assuming call responsibilities

The Clinical RNs care delivery is consistent with the Oregon Nurse Practice Act, the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics. External Hire Requirements:

• 2-years of Critical Care, Emergency Department, Emergency Department Observation or Multi-Specialty Procedural Unit experience
• Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing
• Degree from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA)
• Unencumbered criminal background check
• Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License or Endorsement by the start date
• BLS/PALS must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or Military Training Network branch of AHA by the start date ( upload documentation with online application )
• If you are an existing OHSU workforce member, then review Licensure, Certification and Registration Requirements for OHSU Healthcare Workforce Members policy, specifically #3, to receive compensation for BLS and ACLS certification

Internal Hire Requirements:

• Associate of Science in Nursing minimum requirement for current registered nurse at OHSU
• Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing ( preferred )Degree from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA)
• Unencumbered criminal background check if applicabl
• Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License or Endorsement by the start date
