Rutgers University
Position Summary: The Center for State Health Policy (CSHP) within the Rutgers Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research (IFH) is recruiting an Open Rank Research Faculty member with demonstrated ability to develop and lead a program of research that addresses critical population health and/or health care policy issues of relevance to New Jersey, other states, and the nation. The successful applicant(s) will be appointed as a non-tenure track faculty member at a rank commensurate with their experience. The incumbent in this position will be expected both to respond to requests from New Jersey state agencies and other sponsors to meet specific research and evaluation needs and independently initiate new competitive funding proposals for policy-relevant research. CSHP has a strong research infrastructure and the successful candidate will lead and mentor teams of data analysts and research staff to accomplish project goals. The candidate will also be expected to successfully collaborate with other faculty from CSHP, IFH and other units at Rutgers to advance the Center's mission. Over time, the incumbent will be expected to assume a greater leadership role within the Center and Institute. CSHP and IFH host rich data resources that will immediately be available to the incumbent. For example, the Center receives continuously updated, comprehensive NJ Medicaid claims which it links to homeless services, cancer registry and other state administrative data sets. CSHP and IFH also are launching a NJ-based cohort study that will include biomarker, actigraphy and interview data for diverse panel state residents, and IFH is home to a Survey/Data Core that includes longitudinal national Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance claims and other data. Mid-career and senior applicants will be expected to have successfully developed and executed research projects and funding proposals. Early stage applicants who have demonstrated high potential to develop a funded research program during a post-doctoral fellowship or similar experiences will be considered. Additional details about the position may be found at (http://www.cshp.rutgers.edu/about-cshp/employment). Nominations and applications (letter of interest, full curriculum vitae, and contact information for at least four professional references) should be submitted via the Rutgers employment portal. Review of materials will begin immediately and continue until appointments are made. Minimum Education and Experience: A doctorate in any relevant discipline is required as well as advanced quantitative, qualitative or mixed methods empirical skills and strong theoretical grounding. The role requires strong project leadership and management skills, as well experience in successfully engaging with policymakers or other stakeholder constituencies. Strong written and oral presentation skills, including ability to translate research findings to non-technical audiences, is essential. Experience developing successful extramural grant/contract proposals is strongly preferred. Posting Number: 19FA2614 Location: Rutgers University - New Brunswick
