This exempt position reports to the CEO. The Accounting & Finance Mgr. is responsible for maintaining and providing accurate, timely financial information to the CEO and the board of directors. The manager will also be required to create and execute high level company financial strategies.
Duties
Maintain general accounting records according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS), including month- and year-end processes.
Oversee team's statistical, financial, accounting and auditing reports.
Conduct analysis of rates, lead cost of service studies and manage consultants and advisors on projects such as the cost of service study, rate study and design, financial forecast and financial statement audits.
Maintain current knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, federal and state policies and directives.
Prepare or review team's financial statements and reports, forecasts and budgets, while maintaining best practices and internal controls.
Supervise other accounting positions.
Create and manage department targets and goals.
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is required
5-7 years' experience in corporate and/or public accounting is required
Certified Public Accountant is preferred
Cooperative and RUS accounting experience is preferred
Advanced proficiency using a computer, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and complex spreadsheets and databases
Ability to adhere to cyber-security protocols established by the cooperative
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact frequently with others, including skilled presentation to groups
Must maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding both internal and external member financial information and other sensitive information
Strong mathematical, decision-making, problem-solving and project management abilities
Advanced knowledge of accounting practices/procedures, tax laws, and reporting requirements
Above average detail orientation and ability to ensure accuracy of information for self and others
Ability to sit for extended periods and operate computer work station, work independently with minimal supervision
