JOB SUMMARY The Energy Procurement Analyst will work as a key member of the CBRE Energy Procurement Solutions Team. This position will be responsible for analyzing utility billing data, consolidating and reporting on client KPIs, regulated rate analysis and recommendation for a range of commercial and industrial clients with a focus on utility tariff analysis and optimization, identification and recovery of utility overbillings and other cost reduction opportunities. The Energy Procurement Analyst should have an elementary understanding of deregulated energy markets throughout North America. Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, assisting in the energy supply procurement process, maintaining the client portfolio, cost and consumption database, processing client and market reports, generating energy supply budgets and analyzing utility rate/tariff structures. The Energy Procurement Analyst will also communicate with energy supply partners, utilities, bill pay partners and third party applications to gather timely, accurate, and complete energy market intelligence, maintain required client reporting tools for procurement team and complete projects and statement of works as assigned. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES Procurement - facilitate energy procurement process including data gathering and analysis, preparing bid reports, working with suppliers, collecting and summarizing bids, facilitating contract paperwork and maintaining contract database and repository Analysis - analyze client portfolio of properties for trends and anomalies in energy consumption using MS suite and related CBRE applications. Data Management - gather, review and maintain client consumption and cost database, contract database and repository Reporting - generate client and portfolio reports from data management systems regarding energy cost and consumption. Budgeting - assist with the generation of utility budgets Troubleshoot - resolve utility account and supplier issues by working with associated companies and bill processing firms if part of Statement of Work. Teamwork - participate on Energy & sustainability Team process improvement and sustainability projects as assigned. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to coworkers. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE BA/BS in business, economics/finance, engineering, IT or similar analytical discipline. 3+ year(s) of related work experience with knowledge of energy markets, public utilities rates, and sustainability concepts; energy procurement experience preferred. COMMUNICATION SKILLS Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work across multiple departments and units within an organization. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information. FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, and/or commissions. Conducts basic financial analysis. REASONING ABILITY Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires intermediate analytical and quantitative skills. OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES Experience in the use of Microsoft applications with proficient-level Excel/spreadsheets and macros experience required. Ability to learn other analytical tools Ability to combine and analyze data from various sources and generate reports and graphics. Detail-oriented with excellent time management and follow-through. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
