Internal Job Number: P04114UF Description: The Department of Public Safety is seeking a Police Sergeant eligible for lateral transfer. The provision of public safety on OSU's Corvallis campus will undergo a transition when the three intragovernmental agreements for licensed law enforcement services with Oregon State Police end on December 31, 2020. OSU leadership has determined the best course of action to ensure the continuation of law enforcement services in a manner that is aligned with the values and principles of OSU is to bring this function within the university. Effective January 1, 2021, pursuant to ORS 352.118 and 352.121, OSU will utilize its own sworn officers to provide law enforcement services for the Corvallis campus. The Department of Public Safety is now recruiting lateral, sworn law enforcement professionals to lead, supervise and expand a foundation of complex, compassionate and diversified safety services for the university community. Anticipated starting salary range is $91,000-$100,500; commensurate with training, Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty): Typically requires Associate’s Degree from an accredited college/university in law enforcement or related field; OR 4 years of related work experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience. Supervisory or lead experience of law enforcement/public safety personnel. Requirements : Must be a US Citizen Must be 21 years or older at time of employment Associate Degree from an accredited university school or college; or Oregon Department of Public Safety, Standards and Training Law Enforcement Intermediate Certification or equivalent. Possession of an Oregon State Drivers License within 30 days of appointment Five-years of experience as a certified police officer and a minimum of three-years of experience as a first level or higher police supervisory position AND Certified or eligible for certification by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training Satisfies or able to satisfy all of the following criteria: Must successfully pass a comprehensive background assessment that includes: criminal history check; driving record review; medical examination; psychological evaluation including drug screening; and an inclusive appraisal of work history. Adult CPR with First Aid and Automatic External Defibrillation (AED) certification required within 60-days of employment. Law Enforcement Data Systems (LEDS) certification required within 90-days of employment. Type: This position is deemed essential and supports essential functions on campus operations and may be expected to report to work during inclement weather, emergency and other University work curtailments of closure. This position will require presence during evenings and weekend on campus and at other locations for emergencies, events and meetings. This position involves shift work that can include day shift, swing shift, or night shift duties that administration assigns. Additional Salary Information: $91,000 - $100,500
