Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time, day shift, SOCIAL WORKER in support of the HARBORVIEW ABUSE AND TRAUMA CENTER.

The Harborview Abuse and Trauma Center (HATC) is accountable to a variety of community funding and governmental entities, as well as to HMC. The combined programs have medical, counseling, prevention, training, research and evaluation, and Foster Care Assessment (FCAP) services, with 65 staff including physician faculty, SANE nurses, social work/counseling, prevention, training, and support positions. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director Health Services / Clinical Supervisor, the Social Worker performs a variety of duties exercising independent decision making based on practice experience in the unit.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinical:
  • Provides consultation and information and referral to client families, other professionals, and the community at large
  • Provides crisis intervention to victims or other clients both over the phone and in person
  • Provides psychosocial assessments to victims or suspected victims and their families
  • Provides individual, family and group therapy utilizing an abuse/trauma specific clinical orientation
  • May provide specialized forensic evaluations regarding suspected abuse of children and adolescents
  • May provide evaluations of young children regarding sexual behavior problems
  • May provide PCIT, AF-CBT or other parenting interventions to families
  • Provide other clinical services as needed to include telephone intake and medical social worker coverage for initial medical exams, telephone outreach, and follow-up appointments

    Advocacy:
  • Performs a variety of tasks designed to assist clients/families involved in the various legal systems to ensure their interests and rights are represented
  • Provides access to medical resources for clients as appropriate either independently or with medical consultation as needed. Works collaboratively with the Social Work Assistant in providing medical advocacy with selected clients

    Teaching/Training:
  • Plans and implements formal and informal education and training for a variety of audiences including other professionals, community groups, students, funders, conferences, and other forums
  • Provides practicum instruction and supervision for graduate interns

    Other Duties:
  • Attends and participates in social work department and unit staff, consultation and other meetings as designated by the supervisor
  • Participates in clinical research protocols as directed
  • Participates in departmental and program Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities as directed
  • Attends professional workshops and conferences relevant to the agency's clinical mission as approved by the supervisor
  • Represent the program in various community meetings and initiatives related to the program’s mission
  • Coordinate special projects and program initiatives that enhance program services
  • Other duties as assigned

    • REQUIREMENTS
    A Master of Social Work Degree from a program accredited by the Council on Social Work Education
    AND
    One year of full-time social work experience in a health care setting or equivalent. Experience can include a practicum placement as part of a social work training program and/or employment experience.

    LEGAL REQUIREMENT:
    Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW)

    DESIRED:
    Two years of full-time social work experience in a health care setting, mental health setting, or equivalent
