Assistant/Associate Professor/ Health Communications

Description: Primary duties are teaching courses at the undergraduate (on campus & online) and graduate level when appropriate; teaching daytime and evening courses; engaging in scholarly activities such as research, publishing, and grantsmanship. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, working collaboratively with colleagues, rendering service to the School of Nursing and Health Services, College of Health and Human Sciences, the University, and the Community-at-large and actively engaged in professional organizations. Staying knowledgeable of cutting-edge practices and communication science is expected. Primary Function of Organizational Unit: North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University is an 1890 land-grant doctoral research university dedicated to learning, discovery, and community engagement. Communication Studies Students are engaged in an interdisciplinary study; mastering theories of human communication, ethics, and public discourse to include political, cultural, economic and social dimensions of speech and language. Speech-language Pathology and Audiology Students earn all of the pre-requisite courses within their curriculum for entrance into a graduate program in communication sciences and disorders enabling them to become practicing Speech-language Pathologists who evaluate, treat, and research human communication and its disorders, such as dysfluent speech, and delayed language development. Internal job number: 003765 Requirements: Ph.D. in Communication Science field by the anticipated date of appointment. Preferred: Educational and teaching experience in health communications. Evidence of demonstrated competency in course curricula development and implementation, including health communication, intercultural communication studies, discourse analysis, social science research methods and other related health communication studies core curriculum courses. Experience teaching in higher education, providing both on-line and in-class course delivery, grant writing, and demonstrated potential for establishing a research program relevant to the field.
