POSITION SUMMARY:

We are currently seeking an outstanding and detail-oriented individual to facilitate and coordinate the cleaning and quality assurance effort for data collected under the Human Connectome Project (HCP) family of studies.  This data coordinator will initiate and monitor data processing and data transfer processes and will provide assistance in the execution of public data releases through the NIMH Data Archive (NDA).  Assuming you are that individual, you will review data from Magnetic Resonance (MR) sessions and associated behavioral data for completeness and accuracy.  You will review problem and error reports in IntraDB (the local XNAT database Instance holding MRI data), Trello (tracking of issues for Behavioral data in various sources), and you will coordinate with data collection staff, programming staff, and scientists, at multiple sites to obtain problem resolution in order to prepare data for release.  You will configure, execute, and monitor study processing and transfer pipelines.  You will review resulting reports to ensure completeness.  You will work closely with programming and development staff to continuously improve reporting and to implement problem resolutions.  You will provide assistance with public data releases.

Under the direction of the of the HCP database manager, you will perform a critical role in preparing data for public release.   You will be acting as a liaison between the HCP and the entities depositing data in the HCP database (IntraDB).  Your responsibilities will include working to ensure that incoming data is reliably and efficiently transferred, as well as verifying that the data can be harmonized (e.g. renamed, reformatted, and reorganized) with existing HCP data by working with the appropriate staff.  You will review data for completeness and accuracy, working closely with scientists and data collection staff at multiple sites to resolve issues.  You will submit and monitor data processing and data transfer pipelines, ensuring optimal processing throughput.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Partner and collaborate with external and internal stakeholders in support of data collection, data transfers, and ongoing data releases.   Initiate communication with stakeholders to diagnose and troubleshoot problems.
2. Understand “ideal” HCP-style session data for each project and work to identify deviations.
3. Under the guidance and instruction of computer operations staff, configure, execute, and monitor processing and data transfer pipelines, ensuring optimal usage of computing resources in order to maximize throughput.
4. Coordinate with programming staff to develop and continuously improve quality reporting to assist with the identification and resolution of issues.
5. Review protocol validation, sanity checks, and other project reports.  Reach out to appropriate staff to resolve any issues that block an MR session from being harmonized.
6. Coordinate with programming and development staff to develop and implement problem resolutions.
7. Generate distribution reports from behavioral data, identify outliers, and turn outlier reports into trouble tickets for sites to fix. 
8. Review ticketing system to ensure that issues are actively being addressed.  Reach out to sites as necessary to ensure follow through on resolving trouble tickets.
9. Provide support and guidance to scientific stakeholders and technical partners.

• Experience with Access database development and maintenance.
• Experience with web development and management.

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a computer science or business related discipline. Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience is acceptable. 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to be proactive and to work closely with multiple sites on a daily basis, investigating missing data and data inconsistencies.
• Some research experience, ideally in a neuroimaging research environment.
• Self-motivated, with attention to detail and a determination to work through problems to a successful resolution.
• Ability to multi-task and monitor multiple projects simultaneously.
• Ability to engage and collaborate with scientists, end users, and other research and technical staff in achieving project goals.
• Computer skills sufficient to demonstrate the ability to become comfortable using the Linux Command Line Interface environment to assist in process monitoring, and to write simple scripts  and modify existing moderately complex scripts to assist in the checking and validation of session data.
• Experience with Linux.
• Scripting experience (e.g. bash, Python).
• Education or experience with statistical and reporting methods used in data cleaning.
• Education or experience in neuroscience and neuroimaging.

This position is in the Department of Radiology.  This position is for the Medical School Campus.

This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week. 

The hiring range for this position is 19.18 - $24.47 per hour.
