Tipton-Rosemark Academy (TRA) was founded in 1965 upon the principle that effective education comes from the combined efforts of parents, teachers, and students working together in a highly motivated Christian learning environment. TRA is dual accredited through the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS) and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and currently enrolls 555 students in grades 2K-12th. The Head of School is the spiritual and professional leader of the school responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of TRA. Additionally, the Head of School must be able to develop the school’s financial budget, with the expectation to operate within it. The Head of School is accountable to the Board of Directors and the two are jointly responsible for the success of TRA in serving its community while maintaining a firm spiritual and financial footing.
Qualifications
Beliefs – As the leader of a Christian school, the Head of School should have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
Education – minimum of Master’s Degree in administration/business
Experience – a minimum of 5 years in recent school leadership is preferred
Commitment – the desire to lead TRA as it continues to develop and build towards its strategic vision
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Be a model of servant leadership to the TRA community, including stakeholders, staff, faculty, and students
Engage with the stakeholders, staff, faculty, and students in a manner which encourages honest communication and feedback from these groups
Communicate effectively both in written and verbal forms
Use exceptional organizational, supervisory, delegation, and people skills in the leadership of TRA’s staff and faculty
With support of the business director, efficiently plan and manage budgeted funds. The finance committee and board of directors will review financial statements on a regular basis, but the Head of School should have a solid grasp on the budget and financial impact of decisions.
Ensure adherence to school policies and recommend new policies or changes existing policies to the board of directors
Be the spokesperson and face of TRA to the alumni and local business community. Lead the administrative staff in continuing to nurture these relationships.
Provide leadership and hold accountable school administrators and faculty to ensure a high level of academic achievement for students
Lead and promote continual and sustainable school improvement via measurable results. Faith, community, and academics should be the pillars of TRA.
