Upper School History & Global Studies Teaching Fellow
Greens Farms Academy
Greens Farms Academy seeks an Upper School History & Global Studies Teaching Fellow to begin in August 2021. Teaching fellows teach a reduced courseload and contribute to other aspects of independent school life: leading clubs and activities, chaperoning trips, and possibly coaching. This position will include two sections of US History and one inquiry course in US History in which the Teaching Fellow will guide students in year long research projects on topics of their interest. The Teaching Fellow will also work closely with the Director of Global Education in organizing travel programs and administering other aspects of the Global Education program. The Teaching Fellow will join an innovative and collaborative History & Global Studies Department, which offers a track for graduating students to write a Global Thesis and do primary source research in history. The ideal candidate will have a background in American History, experience and an interest in research, and some experience in and a passion for working with young people. For all positions, we look for candidates who enjoy working with colleagues in a collaborative environment; are flexible, creative, and adaptable; demonstrate a willingness to fully engage in the life of the school in and outside of the classroom, and are committed to fostering a culture of belonging for all students under our care. This teaching fellowship is a two-year position and offers relatively new teachers opportunities for mentorship and professional growth. The position comes with full benefits and the option of applying for on-campus housing. Greens Farms Academy is a PreK-12 co-educational day school of 715 students in the Greens Farms section of Westport, CT. We are a suburban school close to major transportation and a five-minute walk from the Greens Farms Metro North train station. The campus sits on the Long Island Sound, a half hour south of New Haven and an hour north of New York City by car or commuter train. Please visit www.gfacademy.org for more information. Interested candidates should fill out this job application form in which they will be required to use a Google Account to upload a resume and a cover letter addressed to Andrew Jones, Head of Upper School.
