POSITION SUMMARY:

Social media communications have the potential to inform, engage and inspire. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and others offer unique opportunities to support the educational, research and clinical missions of Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR). The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for implementing social media communications for MIR at the direction of the Content Writer/Strategist. In addition, this person will be responsible for maintaining consistent branding and messaging across social media, email and other digital platforms.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Writes, edits, coordinates and monitors content across various social media platforms.
2. Provides additional copywriting support for various digital marketing materials, including blog posts, newsletters, eblasts, ad campaigns and website content.
3. Maintains message calendar for all social media content.
4. Tracks and analyzes social media posts and campaigns to ensure goals are met, and that social media activities are linked to desired outcomes.
5. Attends events, both on and off campus, to collect content for social media.

• Bachelors degree in English, journalism, communications or marketing, with a mastery of writing for the web.
• Extensive familiarity with social networks (Facebook, Twitter, blogs, YouTube) and emerging technologies (including mobile), Internet culture and etiquette.
• At least two years of experience with the development, editing and optimization of content for digital communications, preferably within the health or higher education industries.

Critical skills and expertise:

• Excellent writing, verbal and organizational skills.
• Up-to-date with social media and email marketing best practices and best practices for professional networking sites.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Skilled in synthesizing complex information.
• Ability to think strategically and tactically.
• High level of attention to detail.
• General knowledge of Photoshop.
• Expertise with digital, interactive media.
• Ability to work well with faculty, staff, students and administrators.
• Familiarity with tools for tracking, scheduling and monitoring social media initiatives.
• Knowledge of Associated Press style preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks of varying degrees of complexity.
• Interest and/or experience in medicine and/or science.

This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.  

This position is in the Department of Radiology.  The position is located at the East Building.  This position is for the Medical School Campus.

The hiring range for this position is $44,054 - $56,139 annually.
