Chemeketa Community College seeks a Payroll Manager to join our Human Resources/Payroll leadership team. This position is responsible for accurate and timely payroll operations, supervision and leadership of payroll staff, and close collaboration with the HR Operations & Systems Manager to ensure efficient processing and accuracy of data. The Payroll Manager will serve as the subject matter expert and point of contact for all payroll related matters for Chemeketa employees and Human Resources and Payroll staff. We are looking for a team member who brings an eye for detail and accuracy, great collaboration skills, and the ability to uphold relevant rules, laws, and processes while maintaining a flexible & balanced approach to problem-solving.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution

-And-

Three (3) years of experience in payroll or accounting to include experience with interpreting and applying laws, rules and regulations, experience maintaining data in a complex system, ability to problem-solve through the use of reports and other information.

-And-

One (1) year of supervisory experience or completion of the Chemeketa Employee Development Certification 

Preferred Qualifications

• Four or more years of payroll experience
• Experience with Ellucian Banner
• Two or more years of supervisory Experience
• Experience in management and oversight of payroll operations and staff
• Experience in a Higher Education payroll department
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
• Working knowledge of the Oregon Public Employee’s Retirement System
• College-level financial accounting coursework
• Bilingual
