Assist/Assoc/Full/Distinguished Professor of Gerontology or Geriatric/Palliative Medicine

Position Summary: The Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research, a unit of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS), invites applications for a faculty position in gerontology or geriatric/palliative medicine with population health research experience or training. Candidates must have a strong interest in building a population health research portfolio working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary group of social scientists, behavioral scientist, clinicians and policy scholars and a track record or high potential for federal funding. Minimum Education and Experience: A doctoral or equivalent degree in gerontology, doctor of geriatric/palliative medicine or an advanced social science degree in psychology, sociology, nursing or social work combined with research, background or training in gerontology or aging studies is required. A strong theoretical grounding and quantitative and/or qualitative research skills with excellent oral and written communication skills to support developing a rigorous program of research is expected. A demonstrated record of successfully competing for research grants is desirable. The successful candidate will be jointly appointed in the Institute for Health with tenure-track or tenured appointment within an appropriate Rutgers school or department with teaching, clinical, and/or mentoring responsibilities. Opportunity exists for appointment as a Chancellor's Scholar or endowed chair position as well as protective efforts and support during the early years of hire. Salary and academic rank will be commensurate with scholarly achievements including funded research and publication record, as well as other relevant professional experience. Initial support for establishing a strong program of research will be provided with the expectation that the research program will be increasingly supported by extramural funds.
