![]() Financial Analyst 2 Stanford University The Financial Analyst 2 will perform complex finance functions and/or activities requiring advanced knowledge; sound financial judgement; and application of internal policies, external regulations, precedents, and systems. The position will independently lead the development, administration, consolidation, and reporting of all activities under the Stanford Data Science initiative (SDS) operating budget and financial forecasts, including the Women in Data Science program. It will also manage SDS' day-to-day financial needs and collaborate with colleagues within VPDoR. Reporting to the VPDoR Director of Finance in close coordination with the SDS Executive Director, the Financial Analyst 2 will be the primary financial support for SDS, provide financial support for other VPDoR units and/or initiatives as assigned and be a critical member of a dynamic and collaborative finance team which works together to lead, support, and enable other functions within the organization in an ever-changing environment. This is an ideal job for an individual with outstanding analytical and communication skills who thrives within a collaborative environment. The Stanford Data Science Initiative (SDS) is one the university's long range vision programs to advance data science methods and their application in all fields of study at Stanford. The unit is led by a Faculty Director and a staff Executive Director, under the Office of the Vice Provost and Dean of Research (VPDoR). Its mission is to weave data science research and methods into the university's fabric, giving faculty and students the tools, skills, and understanding they need to do the cutting-edge research that will drive 21st-century scholarship and education. The Office of the Vice Provost and Dean of Research (VPDoR) is directed by the Vice Provost and Dean of Research and oversees Stanford University's research, research policies and inter-disciplinary programs. The VPDoR office provides oversight for 17 independent labs, institutes and centers, three shared equipment facilities and the offices of Technology Licensing, Environmental Health and Safety, Research Compliance, and Science Outreach. JOB PURPOSE: Perform complex finance functions and/or activities requiring advanced knowledge and application of internal policies, external regulations, precedents, and systems. May manage a key area within a finance operation or department/unit. CORE DUTIES:
