Client Relationship Manager - fluent French/English

My client mobilises private sector local currency transaction for infrastructure projects and supports the development of financial markets in lower income countries across Africa and Asia.

The company's vision is to become a centre of excellence for local currency credit solutions for infrastructure finance in lower income countries thereby assisting with the alleviation of poverty.

The team is small, diverse, focused, collaborative and action orientated and we are looking for candidates who have the experience to deliver against the responsibilities of the role and who are passionate about making a difference whilst working in an entrepreneurial and innovative environment.

The Client Relationship Management team is responsible for monitoring the performance of projects and for ongoing interaction with management teams / co-investors (including commercial banks, DFIs and the insurance market) and restructuring where necessary.

THE ROLE
The role will be based in London, report into the Client Relationship Directors and be the relationship manager for certain transactions. We are looking for candidates who have the experience to deliver against the responsibilities of the role and who are passionate about making a difference whilst working in an entrepreneurial and innovative environment.
The ideal candidate will have worked in a major financial institution, accountancy firm, financial advisory firm, private risk insurance market or a project sponsor/operator ideally focused on infrastructure and project finance for at least five years, preferably including a focus on frontier markets.
He or she will have experience of conducting due diligence on complex cash flow-based financings and preferably can demonstrate some experience of working with various sources of risk mitigation.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES


Develop and demonstrate a strong grasp of their portfolio, driving their agenda and demonstrating they are on top of issues;
Proactively manage and monitor the portfolio to increase visibility of future risks.
Monitor performance of projects against various covenants, including financial performance and environmental and social objectives;
Present well developed reports with recommendations, including analysis of possible options/solutions, and arguments
Develop and carry out relationship plans for each transaction.
Prepare periodic reporting to Portfolio Committee on a timely basis;
Get to know assigned pipeline transactions to become familiar with the transaction structure, credit story and documentation, to ensure lessons are learned and portfolio needs are met, and to plan for monitoring and a smooth handover of the transaction at financial close


CORE COMPETENCIES

Essential experience

• Minimum five years' relevant experience.
• Fluency in oral and written French and English are essential.
• Educated to undergraduate degree level
• Strong credit risk assessment and financial statement analysis skills
• Track record of delivering a strong client focused service.
• Expertise in the management of structured / project finance transactions
• Ability to demonstrate understanding of lending and fixed income products.
• Good knowledge of transaction legal documentation.

Desirable experience

• Knowledge and experience of restructuring and managing problem assets.
• Solid understanding of frontier markets (ideally in Africa and Asia).
• Familiarity of issues relating to corporate and project finance in Emerging and Frontier Markets.
• Evidence of enhancing value of portfolio assets.
• Ability to demonstrate understanding of lending and fixed income products.
