Reporting to the Manager of Revenue & Reimbursement, this position is required to understand and apply knowledge of third-party reimbursement regulations including Medicare, Medicaid and all other major third-party payors for the Institute. The position is responsible for all aspects of cost reporting, participation in the development of net revenue forecasts and analysis, performing third party analysis and regulatory impact analysis. Responsible for a wide range of tasks related to use, development and maintenance of computer applications in this area including EPIC, MPC, PeopleSoft, Microsoft Office Products and Strata. Provides assistance to management and administrative personnel through the extrapolation, interpretation and summarization of data for strategic business purposes.

• Assists in the preparation of the annual Medicare and CHIA cost reports for the Institute.  Maintain all analyses, reports and systems to complete cost reports on a timely basis and to maximize reimbursement within allowable guidelines. Includes maintaining, monitoring and collecting intern, resident and fellow FTE counts, physician time & effort reporting, etc.
• Assist with the development of the annual financial and statistical operating budget for the Institute, preparation of regulatory reports, and procedure cost development updates.
• Assist in the development of the annual net patient revenue, bad debt expense and other related accounts for operating budget for the Institute. Prepare analyses and journal entries as required to support the monthly general ledger closing process as it relates to patient revenue, valuation of accounts receivable and third-party liabilities.
• Facilitate the process of monthly reporting of budget vs. actual financial and statistical data as it relates to patient revenue, bad debt expense and other related accounts.
• Provide detailed analytics for initiatives which impact patient revenue and/or reimbursement and prepare ad hoc reports and furnish data on an as needed basis for management.
• Collect related data and statistics for the timely completion of surveys.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual and ad hoc reports and furnishes data on an as needed basis.
• Assist with the development, implementation and operation of systems and processes to support the activities and goals of the Financial Planning (FP) department.
• Participate in the business process redesign and improvement of key functions and tasks within the Financial Planning department.
• Interacts with department managers and other Institute personnel at all levels to insure a complete understanding of any significant financial or statistical reporting, such as actual to budget variances and cost development.
• Understand interdependencies of processes and analyses and propose ways to improve them.
• Develop complex and multi-part analyses and prepare summaries of important findings.

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or related field is required. Master’s or professional certification preferred.   
• Minimum of 5-7 years of related work experience in the health care industry. 
• Requires superior computer skills in MS Office applications, automated general ledger system, etc. PeopleSoft and EPIC experience strongly preferred.  Experience with data mining, relational databases, and SQL query tools is a plus.
• Must be comfortable with manipulating, interpreting, and summarizing large data sets.
• Must have superior judgment, discretion, interpersonal skills and communication skills to effectively work and communicate on sensitive political and confidential issues.
• Must be able to function independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.
• Must pay particular attention to understanding the detail by performing reconciliations, implementing controls, and reviewing work completed.
