This position is part-time and works up to 20 hours per week.  This position is time-limited for up to two years.

Hours worked are primarily during the day with the exception of a few special events that may require some evening commitment. 

This position is in the Institute for Public Health. 

The position will begin with primarily working from home. Once in-person working begins at the University, work will primarily be in the Taylor Avenue Building on the Medical School Campus. For the time being, this position requires suitable work-at-home accommodations. This position may require some travel between campuses and/or work done on the Danforth campus. 

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Harvey A. Friedman Center for Aging at the Institute for Public Health is a university-wide center that works with internal and external partners. This position provides support and coordination for the Center’s WashU for Life Initiative. This includes a variety of tasks, such as project and event development and coordination, assisting with Center communications, and other needs necessary to achieve the mission of the Center and broader Institute.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and coordinate two to three center projects, in close collaboration with the Center Manager, that support education, research, or engagement at the University. This will include assisting in developing new programs, as well as working on more established projects directly related to the WashU for Life Initiative.  
2. Develop and plan events with support of the Center Manager that relate to the WashU for Life initiative. Implement events with coordination from the Institute for Public Health’s Event Coordinator.
3. Assist the Center Manager and IPH Communications Manager with Center communications related to the WashU for Life Initiative, including development of news stories, blog posts, newsletter articles and center reports.
4. Support the Center with research initiatives related to the WashU for Life Initiative. This will include conducting focus groups, organizing existing data, developing and conducting surveys and contributing to research articles.
5. Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.
• Three years of relevant work experience.
• Demonstrated competency with Windows and Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel and Outlook. 

• Bachelor’s degree with five or more years of relevant experience or equivalent training.
• Work experience within a university setting.
• Work or volunteer experience with older adults.
• Experience with communications and marketing is helpful. 
• Project planning and coordination experience.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks in a logical, organized, accurate, and timely manner.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to interact in a professional manner with co-workers, faculty, staff, and students.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The hiring range for this position is $18.80 - $23.99 per hour.
