NYU School of Global Public Health (GPH) (http://publichealth.nyu.edu/) is seeking applications for a full-time Project Coordinator. We are looking for a candidate with a Master's degree, and strong background in one or more of the following areas: Tobacco Dependence Treatment, health communications, practice transformation, and project management. The candidate will work with staff and faculty members of the New York City Treats Tobacco (NYCTT) program team, under the direction of Dr. Donna Shelley, a Professor of Global Public Health at GPH.

The candidate will work on the School's New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Tobacco Control funded award focusing on adopting the evidence-based best practices for treating tobacco use and dependence by implementing health system change strategies in medical and mental healthcare organizations that serve disparate populations. The candidate will assist in implementing the Public Health Service Guidelines for tobacco use and dependence treatment through quality improvement strategies which includes; updating the electronic health record (EHR) to ensure proper documentation, standardizing audit and feedback systems, and implementing, adopting, and disseminating policies and procedures system-wide that improve tobacco dependence treatment.

Job Responsibilities

• Develops and assists program staff in the adoption of comprehensive and sustainable policies and procedures to be disseminated throughout organizations, as needed.
• Advocates and builds relationships with executive-level administrators at health care organizations (both medical and mental health) where health inequities are prevalent, to facilitate tobacco control change system strategies that align with evidence-based guidelines.
• Participates in statewide media workgroups with other contractors, to provide guidance on industry publications, event sponsorships and digital media, including geo-fencing campaigns, content syndication and google display network.
• Provides ongoing technical assistance, content expertise, and professional guidance to organization on the continuing burden in disparate populations, importance and efficacy of guideline-concordant tobacco dependence treatment, emerging issues such as e-cigarettes, and treatment best practices.
• Contributes to the NYSDOH Center of Excellence efforts concerning issues related to emerging issues, including e-cigarettes and other electronic nicotine devices (ENDS) that may interfere with tobacco cessation systems change, in order to strengthen the statewide goals of decreasing health disparities, including those with lower income, less education and those with serious mental illness.
• Garners earned media opportunities that focus on disseminating best practices and the promotion of decreasing health inequities among tobacco users, including but not limited to media pitches, op-eds and letters to the editor.
• Engages in collaboration with community and legislative partners on garnering earned media opportunities.
• Develops public health tools, toolkits and training materials to disseminate to healthcare organizations and other community partners.
• Gathers information and prepares materials for inclusion in public health programs, reports and papers. These materials may include project reports, evaluation materials such as guides, surveys and protocols, and public health products, such as curricula, training and websites.
• Manages social media accounts and develops innovative methods for increasing growth among social media accounts.
• Meets and continually corresponds with local and state legislators to educate on tobacco use disparities and emerging trends that exist within respective districts and effective strategies necessary to sustaining tobacco control improvements.
• Participates in planning efforts for annual legislative education efforts, including schedule prioritization, event advising, and coordination with external partners.
• Travels to healthcare organizations and partners across New York City and attends meetings in Albany, New York.
