Job Summary:

The Department of Nursing, Institute of Continuous Learning at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full time Associate Director of Nursing. The successful candidate will:

• Demonstrate, clinical leadership, project management/ strategic planning, accountability for the development and implementation of data tools, data collection and analysis; methodology for quality metrics driven outcomes and sustainability.
• Be able to collaborate effectively as a team leader in a dynamic, academic health care setting and to be proactive in planning and implementing changes.
• Possess experience as the designated Hospital Coordinator for the National Data for Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI).
• Have knowledge and experience to integrate into practice: Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ); New York State Partnership Association (NYSPA); Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN); Leapfrog survey indicators and outcomes and regulatory requirements (eg. TJC, CMS, DOH).
• Collaborate with the Quality Management Department to ensure accurate data collection and that project management and initiatives are consistent with the priorities established by the hospital.

Required Qualifications:

• Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse.
• Board Certified (CPHQ) by the National Association for Healthcare Quality (or eligible to obtain in one year).
• Five years or more working as a Performance Improvement Coordinator/Associate Director.
• Proficient in oral and written communication skills.
• Computer skills able to use WORD and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Nursing.
